Narayan Kaji Shrestha's Powerful Speech About Nepal And Its Development

UCPN (Maoist) vice chair Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that Chair main of the party Puspa Kamal Dahal is unable to lead the party in good direction. He also underlined 6 main problems faced by Nepali politics responsible to leading the country ashtray.According to Shrestha, Nepali political parities’ tendency of depending on the external power, myopic vision of the politicians, rampant corruption, power hungry leaders, the loss of honesty and integrity in society have been leading the country toward a wrong direction which would meet dead-end soon. Narayan Kaji Shrestha 'Prakash', Born in 1959 in Jaubari-6, plunged into politics in 1976. His political life includes 3 year prison life, with 19 year underground life. A teacher of Siddhatha Banasthali School, Kathmandu cum underground politician, Shrestha became a central member of the CPN (4th convection)led by Nirmal Lama in 1986 and subsequently served as a politburo member at CPN(Unity centre), formed after the merger of CPN(4th convection), CPN-Mashal, revolutionary fraction of CPN- Masal and Proletarian Workers Organization. After the disagreement in the armed conflict model, a group led by general secretary Puspa Kamal Dahal 'Prachand' and leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattaria broke away in 1994 from CPN-unity centre, forming a parallel CPN-Unity centre (later the group took name CPN-Maoist in 1996). After that Shrestha took leadership of CPN-Unity centre for 8 years and became deputy chair at UCPN-Maoist, after the unification between then CPN-Maoist and CPN-Unity centre, Masal in 2008.He served as a deputy prime minister and Minister for Home Affairs in the cabinet led by Jhal Nath Khanal. Likewise he was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Local Development Minister in UCP-Maoist coalition government led by Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai. Shrestha came in light when he protested the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPPA), which was signed on October 21, 2011, between Nepal and India. He played the key role in bringing the government and then agitating CPN-Maoist in the peace dialogue.
