KATHMANDU, April 29: The final rites of journalist and folk song writer, Surya Kumar Chhetri, will be held this afternoon.Chhetri, who also holds the post of Secretary at the Nepal Press Union, was suffering from brain tumor. The 33-year-old journalist was declared dead at 8:30 pm on Thursday evening at the Annapurna Neuro Hospital in the capital city.His body will be kept at the Nepal Academy for two hours for those wishing to pay their tribute to the journalist.Chhetri, who underwent a surgery for brain tumor in 2014, had been on regular medication and medical consultation. He was also treated in India last year following the surgery. Nepali Congress lawmaker, Gagan Thapa, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) President, Dr Mahendra Bista, Nepal Press Union Chairman, Badri Sigdel, folk singer, Bimal Raj Chhetri among his well wishers visited the hospital following the journalist’s demise.A local of Syangja, Chhetri started his journey in Nepali journalism from a radio in Palpa.
