School leaving Certificate (SLC) examination of this year has began across the country from Thursday. A police constable was injured in chaos that took place outside a local school of Jajarkot district on the first day of SLC examinations. Amar Bahadur Nepali lost his one tooth after an unidentified youth pelted stones at the police personnel while they were managing the crowd of students that had gathered at the Janata Higher Secondary in Painka before the examination started. Government has introduced a new grading system in School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination by scrapping the previous pass-fail system.According to the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), a total of 615,553 students, including under regular, exempted and technical category, have taken part in the SLC exams. The exam will end on April 11. The OCE has stated that 1,943 superintendents, 2,978 deputy superintendents, 25,556 invigilators, 13,274 helpers, and 29,145 security personnel are deployed to conduct the SLC exams in 1,943 centers across the country. The government has taken extra initiation to conduct the examinations in a fair and peaceful manner. SLC exams of this year are being held differently as result of this year is being assessed using letter grading system.
