The government has enacted ‘Local Body Employees’ Record Directive, 2016’ to maintain, update and provide information and data relating to appointment, transfer, promotion, career development, gratuity, reward and punishment, and property details of employees working for local bodies.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development formulated and enacted this directive as the government lacked integrated personal details of employees of local bodies at the central level.
The new law will help the MoFALD assess financial liability of the government to provide service and facilities to the local body employees.
Human Resource and Local Body Employees’ Record Keeping Section under the MoFALD is required to develop and operate web-based Personal Information System for maintaining records of permanent employees of the local bodies.
Each employee will be provided with user password to update his/her details by entering factual information in computer-based information system as and when necessary.
