SSP Sarbendra Khanal will be Transferred

A team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division on Thursday arrested notorious goon Purna Rai alias Jaswant Gurung from Bijulibazar, Kathmandu.

The police personnel, who had gone to arrest Rai on the charges of extortion, opened two shots in their attempt to arrest him.

SSP Sarbendra Khanal informed that they had to open fire as Rai wielded an iron rod towards the police personnel after being asked to surrender. Rai has sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment in Bir Hospital.

Rai has a lengthy rap sheet and has been arrested time and again with cases of extortion from hotel, restaurants and parking lots filed against him.
