Minister for Supplies monitors Kalimati-based vegetable market

Minister for Supplies, Ganeshman Pun, has directed the entrepreneurs to pay attention towards operating the Kalimati-based fruits and vegetable market noting that the quality of the products sold to the consumers is not up to the mark. In course of the market monitoring jointly carried by Nepal Bureau of Standard and Metrology and Department of Supplies Management here today, Minister Pun said that the sub-standard food stuffs were found in the market and warned the entrepreneurs to not overlook its potential negative impacts on consumers. Stating the government should carry out consistent monitoring, he directed the bodies concerned for the effective management of garbage within three days and urged the entrepreneurs to find solution of the problems in a sustainable manner. Coordinator of the Monitoring Committee, Ram Chandra Kafle said that the Department has been undertaking continuous monitoring for the protection of consumers’ welfare and added that action would be taken against those carrying out activities against people’s welfare. The team comprising the Minister had monitored vegetable and fish shops at Kalimati and fruits market at Balkhu in the capital. General Secretary of the Federation of Fruits and Vegetable Entrepreneurs, Rudra Pathak urged the government to provide support for the management of fruits shops in Balkhu.
