Nepali Congress obstructs House meeting

The second meeting of the Legislature-Parliament has been postponed again after posting a notice. The second meeting of the parliament was postponed till 3:30 pm after the first meeting was obstructed by the major opposition party-Nepali Congress (NC). The next meeting of the Parliament has been scheduled at 3.30 pm on Tuesday as no consensus between the ruling parties and major opposition was forged regarding resumption of the House, said NC parliamentarian Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat. The Parliament Secretariat, however, said that the meeting was postponed due to special reason. A taskforce comprising former General secretary of the Nepali Congress Krishna Prasad Sitaula, NC Chief Whip Chinkaji Shrestha, NC leader Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, Deputy Leader of CPN (UML) Parliamentary Party Subash Chandra Nembang and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Bhim Rawal of the CPN (UML), CPN Maoist Centre leader Krishna Bahadur Mahara, among others has been formed after the meeting held in presence of the prime Minister, it is learnt. NC has been obstructing the House for the past four days demanding providing a lump sum of Rs 200,000 to quake-survivors. RSS
