Lokman Singh Karki

9:38 AM

Chief of Nepal’s anti-corruption body Lokman Singh Karki was a no-show at a meeting of Parliament’s Good Governance Committee which was to take up issues of irregularities in the country’s medical schools. According to Parliament sources, CIAA chief Karki cited health problems for not attending the meeting. He said he has a throat infection, and cannot speak for seven days, a source said. This comes a day after Dr Govinda KC, an activist, ended his hunger strike, which he had started 16 days ago with demands including impeachment of Karki. KC, however, ended his fast after lawmakers including the Nepali Congress’ Gagan Thapa told him the issue would be raised in Parliament. -
