June 9: Three persons were buried to death inside a sand mine at Khadga Bhanjyang VDC-9 in Nuwakot. The deceased have been identified as Bikash Tamang, aka Ganga Singh, 35, of Dangsingh-4, Prakash Tamang, 18, of the same locality and Shankar Rai, 22, of Khagda Bhanjyang-9. The tragic incident took place as the three were working at the sand mine. A mound of sand caved-in and buried them as they were loading a mini truck with sand. Bikash is the driver of the mini truck, Praksh was his helper while Shanker a labourer, the District Police Office Nuwakot said. The died on the spot, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rhishiram Kandel said. The bodies have been sent to Trishuli District Hospital for a post-mortem.
