Nabil Bank Robbery Under Investigation



Investigation is on regarding the looting of cash of Nabil Bank Limited on December 9, 2013.

The Kailali Police have made some arrests in this connection and are continuing interrogations. A team led by Superintendent of Police of Kailali district police office, Ramesh Pandit is carrying out the investigations.

Among the suspects are some bank employees and their relatives. Even employees who were arrested a kept in custody before have been rounded up for questioning. The Kailali police said that five people have been arrested for interrogation.

Among those arrested is Dil Bahadur Singh, the brother of Bishan Singh, the Manager of Nabil Bank Mahendranagar Branch. A contractor, Dil Bahadur was arrested from Chandani. Also arrested are the bank employees and the driver.

Masked people carrying weapons had looted Rs 23.1 million from a vehicle inside a forest at Malakheti on the border between Kanchanpur and Kailali districts.

In conversation with Prime Minister of Nepal, Mr. Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli..About:The eldest child of father Mohan Prasad and mother Madhumaya Oli, KP Oli lost his mother at the age of four to smallpox which was spread like an epidemic then. After the death of his mother, Oli’s grandmother Rammaya had brought him up. Prime Minister Oli’s childhood name was Dhruba. While enrolling in school, his parents changed his name to Khadga Prasad. He studied up to the fifth grade at local Pranami Middle School. According to his childhood friends, KP Oli was a smart kid from the beginning and had a sharp mind. He liked playing chess and encouraged others to take up the game as it helped in brain development, they recall. Besides, Oli also enjoyed playing football and used to make balls out of rags. He was good at scoring goals after successful dribbles, his childhood friend and distant nephew Padam Prasad Oli said. Those days, he liked writing nationalistic poems and reading those to friends, Padam Prasad continued. With help from communist leader Ramnath Dahal, Oli migrated to Jhapa in 1963 at the age of 12. Dahal was later killed in Sukhani Murders. Having been influenced by Marxist and Leninist philosophies, Oli entered communist politics in 1966.

Nischal Basnet is excited about his upcoming film, Talak Jung vs Tulke, set during the decade-long Maoist insurgency. The film is due to be released next month.
The young Nepali is part of the new crop of filmmakers who have been trying to chart a new course in terms of storytelling and technique.
“I wanted to make an entertaining film with generous doses of humour that will resonate with the Nepali public,” the 33-year-old director told Al Jazeera.
The film, loosely based on Chinese modernist author Lu Xun’s short story The True Tale of Ah-Q, marks a departure from a typical Hindi cinema or Bollywood film that dominates Nepal’s cinema.Basnet describes Talak Jung vs Tulke as a dark comedy with the main protagonist, a Nepali common man, in a search for his identity against the backdrop of the conflict.

Dhankuta Bus Accident












At least 13 persons, including former Minister of State for Finance Hari Raj Khewa, were killed and 28 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus (Ba 2 Kha 7366) skidded off the road and plunged some 80 meters from the road near Sindhuwa Bazaar of Dhankuta district on Thursday.

The bus, en route to Dharan from Sankhuwasabha, had 41 passengers on board. Brake failure and poor visibility due to fog have been blamed for the accident.

Twenty-seven injured are undergoing treatment at Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), while one victim is receiving treatment at Dhankuta District Hospital, according to Surendra Khadka, chief of District Traffic Police Office, Dharan.Seven among the deceased died on the spot while the remaining six breathed their last while undergoing treatment at BPKIHS, according to police.

Those who died on the spot include former state minister Khewa of Hatikharka VDC-6 of Dhankuta, Aatimaya Tamang, Khin Maya Bhattarai, Tara Devi Basnet, Tara’s three-year-old daughter Reshma, all of whom are from Parewa VDC-7, and businessman Bedprakash Agrawal of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City ward number 2.

Other victims – Homa Paudel of Phulek-6, Tehrathum, Tej Bahadur Thapa of Leguwa, Dhankuta, Bir Bahadur Kafle of Marekatahare, Dhankuta, Tanka Katuwal of Madi Municipality, Sankhuwasabha, and Sonam Tamang of Budimorang-8, Dhankuta. Identities of two other victims have not been ascertained yet, informed police constable Dhan Bahadur Basnet.Security personnel and locals had jointly carried out rescue work following the accident.
